MEET OUR WINE PRODUCERS

TASI is born between the Amarone hills and the Valleys of Soave, at the gates of a beautiful and wild Lessinia Natural Park. Terroir for us is also home, so everyday, we promote a sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture. From the great classics of our tradition to unique IGT wines inspired by the richness of our vines, all our wines tell stories of terroir, good companies and great moments. 100% organic because we want to look at the future with optimism. 100% Italian because the uniqueness of our wines comes from the tradition and the beauty of this land.

Natural Farming

Following the core principles of biodynamic, we work to integrate as much as possible our vineyards in the natural environment that surrounds us. We preserve and promote biodiversity, keeping vast areas of woods all around our vineyards, raising animals and integrating other crops. We work to recover the natural balance and fertility of the soil through a series of techniques like biodynamic compost, sovescio, and the use of microorganisms.

Vines growing in a healthier soil, rich in microorganisms and microbiological activity, are in fact able to develop a stronger and deeper roots system which is essential to absorb mineral salts present in the soil. Through the use of microelements and herbal teas we also work to recover and enhance the natural resistance of the vines to pathogens. All this work is focused on the final goal of having fruits that are healthier, richer in aromas and taste and truly representative of our terroir.

Natural Winemaking

The work in the winery follows the same idea and principles that guide us all year around in the vineyards. After years of practice and research to make wines that are truly terroir driven and an authentic expression of our grapes, we are now using only native yeasts avoid filtrations and other processes that could alter the identity of the wine and add only minimal amounts of sulphites.

Ognissole is where tradition and vision meet passion, expertise, and respect, combined with a solid identity rooted in the territory. Ognissole is a story of sunlight, wind, and Murge, with its two key productive centres located in a region that has always been devoted to viticulture: the Cefalicchio estate to the North, between Canosa di Puglia and Castel del Monte, and its other estate exclusively dedicated to Primitivo, about 100 km South, on the Gioia del Colle plateau.

HISTORY

The name “Ognissole”, of Greek origin, is mentioned in a poem of Leonida di Taranto (third Century B.C.) that describes this land as full of charm and covered by the sun for most of the day. Ognissole embodies the essence of Puglia where the sun and the influence of the sea give richness, character and elegance to the grapes. The logo is a detailed re-interpretation of a mosaic found in a “domus” built between the end of the third century and the beginning of the second century B.C., now stored in the National Archeological Museum of Taranto.

VINEYARDS AND WINERY – TENUTA CEFALICCHIO

Cefalicchio is a biodynamic winery (with Demeter certification) located in the hills of Canosa di Puglia (province of Barletta-Andria-Trani) populated by vineyards, pines and olive trees. The conversion to the biodynamic method started back in 1992 and since then the objective was to create a productive structure perfectly integrated with the surrounding ecosystem. The original nucleus of the property was a historic villa of the XVI century, completed over time by other external structures. Cefalicchio vineyards are situated in the two most vacated viticulture areas in the North of Puglia: Castel del Monte and Trani. Nero di Troia is the native varietal dominating the scene in the former, while in the latter white Moscato expresses its highest potential giving birth to wonderful aromatic wines.

THE BIODYNAMIC AND ORGANIC METHOD

The winery adopts vinicultural methods that are fully respectful of the ecosystem. In Canosa, the wine production has been biodynamic since 1992, in compliance with the Demeter standards: across the 25 hectares of vineyards, wild herbs grow alongside the grapevines to provide nutriment and balance to the soil. All around are fruit trees, almond trees, pines, and plenty of woodland. The Gioia del Colle cultivation is organic: 14 hectares, 400 metres above sea level on a plateau that is constantly reached by the wind, even in the summer evenings by virtue of the two seas - the Adriatic and the Ionian - whose close presence deeply influences these areas. In 2017 the technical direction of the winery was entrusted to Luca D’Attoma, an internationally affirmed oenologist and biodynamics-expert: a decision that reflects Ognissole’s determination in following the respectful principles adopted in the vineyards throughout the entire wine-making process.

As of today, the company “Cavalier Bartolomeo” is run by Dario Borgogno alongside his wife Marriaje and his son Alex.

The Barolo Method

We’ve been working amid our vineyards with passion for five generations, in order to preserve and enhance these difficult and precious lands located in Garbelletto, 3 km away from Barolo. In the last years, the number of large companies has multiplied, which has certainly had the great merit of making known the quality of the local wines. But the making of the Barolo is a whole other story: it is a craft, in which one must employ a lot of expertise. Thus, the wine, that Wine, comes from a cycle of work that can never be completely industrial.

The Patriarch has learned that little bit more and has passed it on to his son and nephew: patience to sagacity, continuous attention to the vineyard, updating on materials, from barrels to bottles, from tools to agricultural machinery.

Cultivating Toscana Diversity

The little joys of life, the pleasure of flavours and taste – these are the sensations Tuscany offers, and which Frescobaldi wishes to dedicate to whoever sees in the wine, a culture beyond the vine and the grape. The dream of my family is to share our work, our emotions and our passion through our wines, to share a life dedicated to understanding and developing these terroirs, inspired by the spirit of Tuscany, the art of what is beautiful and what is good. One thousand years of family history are a unique and incomparable treasure of knowledge and tradition. It is our duty to share this passion with future generations, passing on our love for these eternal places, these eternal hills.

We want the family estates, with their vineyards, to be the expression of this diversity and for the wines to reflect each individual terroir, respecting their nature and authenticity.

Diversity is also a promise of pure tastes, from wines to olive oil to the dishes cooked in our restaurants.

And lastly, diversity is cultivated in the Renaissance of the arts and of men: with the sponsorship of the “Artists for Frescobaldi” project and the social responsibility of the rehabilitation of the prisoners of Gorgona Island.

Sustainable agriculture

At our estates, we pay scrupulous attention to all principles of integrated Production and Sustainable Agriculture, and as of 2021, our estates have received AgriQualita certification from the Region of Tuscany. AgriQualita Certification is awarded for the use of ecologically sustainable farming techniques compatible with the protection of the natural environment.

Sustainable Production

We are using new lighter-weight and environmentally friendly bottles. In order to:

  • Reduce the use of glass
  • Reduce energy and water consumption for the production
  • Reduce CO2 emission, during production and transportation

The Masi family have been making wine for three generations. From the beginning until now, the leading philosophy which has distinguished our work has always been the same: producing wines with an excellent quality/price relationship. To obtain this, year after year we have searched for and selected the producers who can guarantee a constant high standard quality level, and we have created a long-term relationship of cooperation with them, including our consultation on how to manage the vineyard, with the aim of reaching the highest quality.

About our work, we have been said: “The role of the negociant is scarcely understood in Italy (...). Yet the activity needs to be done well. And a family interpreting this job with ability is Masi of Rufina, with the father Renzo and the son Paolo, graduated agronomist in Florence”. (Daniel Thomases, I VINI DI TOSCANA).

At present, we produce two white wines, a rosé, three red wines, a Chianti Riserva and a blend between Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon aged in oak barrels, all by using grapes and wines coming from the area of Rufina and its surroundings (except for the Valdichiana Bianco Vergine).

Fattoria di Basciano is the estate owned by the Masi family since the beginning of 1900. It is located right in the heart of the Chianti Rufina area, on the top of a hill overlooking the Argomenna valley on one side, and the right bank of the Sieve river on the other.

The winemaking tradition of the Pavans began in 1919. Over these years our winery has constantly expanded to meet the increasing requirements as our position in the National market has established a very reputation.

Today Vini Pavan is a winery of considerable dimensions with a large production capacity and which uses state-of-the-art technologies, although wholesomeness is still the distinctive feature of our products.

Fragrant and generous, our wines also offer to those who taste them the tradition and human values of the culture of region Veneto, these features have been passed on by a family business which has successfully combined dedication with innovation.

A Friulian family of solid and visionary people who have been cultivating the land for three generations without ceasing to look ahead. A small local production that has grown, hand by hand, to become today synonymous with international excellence.

Crossroads of waters, lands and peoples, the SIRCH vineyards concentrate the immense wealth of different histories and geographies in a single territory. On the right the Judrio river marks the Italian-Slovenian border, on the left the Natisone river defines the renowned DOC area of Friuli Colli Orientali.

Squeezed between these two waterways - between the municipalities of Cividale del Friuli, Prepotto and Prepariacco (Orsaria) - SIRCH thus unites, under its label, a long history of geographical and cultural borders.

Sirch Wines

Indigenous varieties alternate with international ones, experience is combined with research and the classic-modern character that distinguishes SIRCH wines is born. The whites, Friulian pride, flank the structured and complex reds. The common denominator is the terroir with high quality standards, now sought after and also known abroad.

The Julian Alps, located behind, shelter the area from the cold currents of the North; while the Adriatic sea, which opens in front, guarantees a beneficial and constant ventilation. The soils consist of an alternation, in Friulian called "ponca", of marls (silts and limestone clays) and sandstones (cemented sands) of the Eocene Tertiary era.

Hence, the main character of the wines that combine the decisive structure with elegance, and flavor with harmony, all supported by a long final aromatic persistence.
